The humble medieval structures, brought to modern times by thoughtful design interventions, in the small French town where her grandparents live – rather than the skyscrapers of Manhattan where Alix was born and raised – sparked her interest in architecture.
Her passion for design, space and creating experiences for people, particularly through food, led Alix to Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration, where she co-founded a group that produces experiential dining installations, then to California College of the Arts for a Masters in Architecture.
Prior to starting duckduckdesign Alix worked 7 years building a single practitioners' business running 5 projects a year into full fledged 10 person boutique architecture firm running 20+ projects a year. Prior to joining Red Dot Studio in San Francisco, Alix worked at Agence Jean Nouvel in Paris and Tihany Design in New York City.
Alix holds her architectural license from New York State.
